Yee Haw!!!!

On Tuesday, we went to Sophia's PK field trip a place called The Rodeo Zone. It's in the Ft. Worth Stockyards and has lots of hands on activities for the kids to do.

Sophia was a little concerned about it.

It was a bucking animal, ranging from a zebra to a catfish, that was controlled by remote to go around a small arena.

Sophia told me while she was waiting to go that she didn't want to go. When it came time for her to go, she didn't want to go. So Ms. Melanie asked the guy if she could ride with me and he said yes. And Sophia said yes.

So off we went to the longhorn.

Then they had these bikes converted into horses that they played on.

They had stick pony races.

Sophia got a little frustrated with the bicycle horses.

But was happier when being pulled by her friends.

Then at 11:30, we gathered outside to see the daily cattle drive.

And the kids got a chance to cool off in the spritzing fans.

Next back to the rodeo zone for some rodeo golf.

They got to do a little cattle roping.

Sophia preferred cattle riding/sitting.

Yee haw!!!! Ride 'em Sophia!

A Big Girl Bed....Sigh....

Correction: I posted a pic of the bed I THOUGHT we were getting Sophia on a previous post. Russell did all the measuring, calculating and ordering.

So you can imagine that I was quite surprised that this was the bed that arrived last week. The major difference is the ladder vs. the steps. But apparently the other bunk bed was too big for her room. Sigh.....

Sophia has been waiting since last weekend to have her daddy put it together. So she was really excited when he started putting it together this Sunday.

Bye! Bye! Toddler bed!

Here's the samples we picked at Home Depot.

Somehow princess stickers kept getting on Russell's back. I have no idea how that happened.

Thank goodness he had a little helper because I was too busy taking pictures.

In between helping, Sophia would dance a little jig.

At this point, I was trying to convince Sophia that she could sleep on the top bunk and we could put her book shelf (or kitchen) underneath to make a little reading nook to save space. But she wasn't buying it.

So we added the bottom bunk. And once we added the bedspread she picked out herself, she decided she wants to keep her room green.

Sophia was very grateful!!!!
She immediately put this sign on her door and shut it. I knocked and opened the door. I was informed that the sign said "Do Not Enter!".  Sigh.....and so the growing up begins to change.

Honestly, I'll say this whole big girl bed thing has really made me sad. I guess because I don't want her to grow and enter the real world yet. I want to keep her 4 forever. It just kind of hit me today, that she's REALLY not a baby anymore. I still think of her as my moody, sassy little toddler who still calls me mama. That throws tantrums. But when I walked into her room today and woke her up, if felt weird. Where did my baby girl go? Sigh.....did anyone else experience this when they transitioned to a big bed?

P.S. Russell added Christmas lights underneath the top bunk. Pretty cool, huh?
