Aunt Amy's Birthday

This past Sunday, we celebrated Aunt Amy's birthday at my parent's house.

Sophia demanded that she bring her backpack.

What important things did she have inside you might ask? Just her stuffed Nemo.

After a little play time it was time for lunch, where Sophia got to sit at the kid table with her cousins (at the other end of the table from me).

When it was dessert time, Sophia made sure she sat by me.

After lunch and dessert, it was time for a good book with Uncle Tim.

And then it was time to color with cousin Jack.

After her nap, it was time to rough house with her cousins.

It was a great day. We had lots of fun! Happy birthday Aunt Amy!

Christmas Came a Little Early...

For Christmas, Sophia's Grandpa and Grandma K bought Sophia a table and chairs and on Sunday we decided to go ahead and break open the box and put it together early because she does so much coloring (she likes to color in the living room but doesn't have a very good surface to work on).

So Russell put it together.

Sophia was very excited!

And she even helped a little.

She couldn't wait to test it out.

A Star is Born

This past Tuesday, we braved the traffic to Saginaw to see my nephew Will perform with his fellow 2nd graders. Will had one of the lead parts with the most lines...Santa. Now if you'll remember what Will looks like (tall, skinny) that might give you a little chuckle trying to imagine him playing Santa. But he pulled it off.

 Santa is the leader of the choir so here he is directing. The choir members are different animals.

 What amazed me is that when I was at their house prior to the show, he was not nervous at all. We got to the school...still not nervous. On stage...not nervous. Nerves of steel I tell you! He remembered all of his lines (one little falter on one but he got it together and delivered his lines).

 I was so proud and impressed that he could get up there in front of everyone and act.

In the  last scene of the play, an adult Santa came out and all of the audience was invited to visit Santa, have their picture made etc. Sophia started screaming "I wanna go home". She was not prepared for that.

 She kept an eye on that Santa the whole time.

 Sorry Robin, I know you'll hate this pic of you but it's really cute of Will and Sophia.

After this most recent experience with Santa, we've opted to skip our train ride to downtown and see Santa. I think she's had all the Santa she can handle for one year. Maybe next year.

Sophia's Tree Project

So we finally finished Sophia's tree project on Wed. night. Actually Sophia and I finished our part on Mon. but it took Russell a couple of days to add lights and sound. He added lights and it plays the song "You're a Mean One Mr. Grinch" when you hit the heart at the bottom.

Sophia's favorite thing about the whole project was the gluing. She loves gluing things and does not want any help with the glue bottle.

Of course our tree has a Grinch theme! I was lucky to find these felt Grinch ornaments at Michael's. It's a kit that comes with adhesive felt so you just peel the back off and stick the pieces together.
