Easter Sunday

Easter Sunday started out with Sophia checking out what the Easter bunny left behind for her. I wasn't sure whether to tell her the Easter bunny left it or I did because growing up, my parent's didn't tell us the Easter bunny left anything, but Russell's parent's did. So we went ahead and said the Easter bunny did (I had won the not wrapping Santa presents argument so I let him have this one).

She was very excited about all of it but especially her Ariel bath doll.

Then it was time to get ready for church. Sophia and I (Russell didn't want to go on Easter Sunday saying it would be too crowded) visited First United Methodist in Hurst for the first time. It was my first time in a Methodist church. We liked it. Sophia was able to sit through the whole service (about an hour long).

After church, we headed home to pick up Russell and the food before heading over to my parent's house for lunch.

Sophia wanted to help by passing out plates. She didn't realize they were dessert plates.

Then came the Easter egg hunt.

She looked here.

She looked there.

And everywhere!

She even looked in the garden.

At one point, she felt like giving up. Too many eggs to find and too many places to look (with such a huge yard).

Around that time, Will stepped up to help Sophia out.

And in the end, she was very pleased with herself and her loot. She made $12.72.

Then my mom broke out the big balls. Literally.

Sophia made sure to tell Nana and Paw-Paw thank you.

She found a ton of ways to use her ball.

Sitting.

Bouncing.

(I had to include these to show her little expressions.)

They played catch.

I'm not even sure what you'd call this activity.

And then more bouncing.

Aunt Robin brought some sugar cookies, icing and sprinkles to decorate cookies.

And of course Sophia enjoyed every minute of that, including the part where she got to eat the cookie.

On her second cookie, she got her Uncle Tim to help her draw a bunny.

Next, gift bag time.

Our final activity, for some of the family, was swimming. I opted out. Not warm enough for me yet.

But Sophia was game. See Tricia, a pink tu-tu looks lovely with a bathing suit (this bathing suit came like this from Target).

They started out in the hot tub.

But eventually ventured into the pool.

And finally, what would a swim be without ice cream?

Sophia managed to get though the day without a nap. And she was in a really good mood, except for a few moody moments here and there.

Easter Egg Hunt

On Saturday, we headed over to my parent's church for their egg hunt. They had a really good set up complete with a bounce house slide.

Which Sophia was tentative with at first.

But by the third time, she was going solo.

Did I mention she loved the slide?

She did venture out to the bounce house.

And face painting.

And then there was more sliding.

We were killing time between the slide and the egg hunt.

And the moment Sophia had been waiting for...the Egg Hunt.

Sophia had a really great time! And so did I. It was really fun watching her interact with other people. The concept of a line is lost on 2, almost 3 year olds.

Just a Swinging

You know it's been a busy weekend when I only had time to take about 4 pictures. This is one of them. :)

Friday night and Saturday day, I spent time with my sister Robin scrapbooking at a scrapbooking special event. I got SOOOOO much done! I feel so caught up. Almost. Just Nov and Dec and them I'm completely caught up. Yea!!!! I had a great time with my sister Robin and Russell and Sophia managed to survive without me just fine.

So on Sunday, I took over Sophia duty and gave Russell the day off to do whatever he wanted. He went fishing. We went to the park (all she wanted to do was swing), to Target and to my parent's for a quick visit. We also brought Russell some lunch on our way home. It was a good weekend but went by way too fast.

Only 31 days and 15 hours until summer vacation! Yippee!!!! I have a count down app on my phone. Love it!

Tu-Tu Cute

My friend Tricia had said she wanted to have a pink tu-tu for her 40th birthday. I didn't know how to make one but I did a little research and made a practice one for Sophia as seen on my other blog Kaminski's Creations. I finally finished it this weekend and also found a tiara. I gave it to her last night at bunko (a little early since her birthday isn't until the 30th but she is taking a trip to Hawaii for her birthday). I think she has the right idea about turning 40. I need to start saving up for a big trip too.

I'm pretty sure she loved it even though it was a little full.

We thought it was cute that she matched our bunko doll, Flat Donna (long story).

Happy early birthday Tricia! You make turning 40 look good (and fun)!

The Rest of Our Sunday

After our playdate, we headed home for lunch and a little yardwork.

Sophia was very excited about her new Princess flower pot.

Russell also did a lot of work in the yard. He's in the process of replacing our edging, planting flowers and adding a flower bed on the west side of the house.

Sophia kept saying "it's growing, it's growing!". It was really just that the water made the soil pellets expand to fill up the pot. But she was impressed. boy will she really be impressed when/if flowers start coming up.

And we're planting some herbs to start an herb garden.

After bathtime, we let Sophia have a piece of cake that Uncle Brice sent home with us from his birthday party on Saturday. I probably should have given it to her BEFORE her bath.

Sophia was very thankful for her cake and said a prayer for it. It's the one she does at school.

Playdate With Atticus

On Sunday morning, we met up with Sophia's best bud Atticus. Sophia insisted on bringing her "bike" and her new helmet.

And off they went!

They played on the see-saw. I love this standing one!

They swung. In fact, they almost feel asleep on the swings.

And they kicked the ball around a little bit.

The only thing they didn't do was go for a nature walk. Couldn't quite convince them it would be fun. Maybe it's because the wagon and Apollo pulling the wagon really fast, were missing.
