A Little of This, A Little of That

Saturday was our grocery shopping day (I usually do it Friday after school while Sophia's still in school). But Sophia was with me this time. She was very helpful.

We did happen to run across a must-have for any Rangers fan. Rangers Chips (Target on Precinct Line Rd).

When we arrived home from shopping, we came home to "happy mail". My order (and gift) from my friend Kristy. Sophia LOVES the bag and towel! You should check out her blog here and her Etsy shop here.

Here's what my bag looks like. She made it for my birthday. I LOVE it! The colors and design are perfect (and I carried it as my school bag today...so exciting).

Then, later in the day, we got a visit from Uncle Brice and Aunt Cynthia.

As usual, they came bearing gifts.

Then Sophia wanted to watch X-men (her new favorite show......Russell's influence).

In this pic, she's tired of me taking pics with the flash.

REALLY tired of me taking pics.

Then it was time for dinner and we had decided to serve Sophia up with some leftover pizza while we ate grilled chicken with salad. BUT, Sophia wanted to have some grilled chicken (this is the 2nd time she's done this so it's not an anomaly). She ate about a half of a grilled chicken breast. Pretty impressive.

Then it was time for "Face Time" on Uncle Brice's phone (new to me, didn't know it existed). That's why I have Russell.....so I don't have to be technologically literate...well for starters anyways. There are many other reasons, but I digress.

By the way, they're on the phone with Aunt Brandy and cousin Maddie who live in NC.

Sophia showing her Aunt and cousin her room.

After that, Sophia was very playful and wanted to accessorize her Aunt and Uncles heads with their visors (they came from a golfing thing).

Then Sophia wanted to be accessorized with her new slinky.

Then it was Uncle Brice's turn. Luckily, they had 2 slinkys...one for each ear.

Then it was dance party time (Sophia had to have her bunny ears).

Have you had enough entertainment/entertaining yet Uncle B and Aunt C?.

Yep, Sophia was SUPER ready for bed.

Night! Night!

Surprise!!!

Friday night, I gathered with some friends to surprise our mutual friend Donna, for her (early) birthday). Her daughter (my friend) Dina, planned the entire thing.
Her church does an annual ladies night, called Dine by Design. Each host (I'm assuming you had to sign up to host a table), invites the people to fill her table. And each table is decorated by the host in a different way, different themes, etc.

Dina had this great idea to decorate her table for her mom's upcoming birthday (on Monday). Then Dina had this great idea to invite her mom's friends to surprise her by being at her table (Donna thought her table was going to filled with only Dina's friends. I was the only one that she knew was coming. And she also did not know Dina's table theme at all).

We got there about 15 minutes before Donna did and hid.

Then we walked up, me in front. Surprise!!!!
And boy was she surprised!

Here's Dina's beautiful table design. It was so cute! And she had a bunch of pictures of Donna from her 20's, 30's etc.

Here's another table that I also liked. Their theme was Pinterest. Everything on the table was a craft/idea they'd found on Pinterest.

I especially loved the coasters made from Scrabble letters.

Back to our table....

Here's Tricia and Gina. Such cute pink ladies!

Here's Donna and her daughter Dina.

Here's Gina, Donna and Mary (and Dyana was just to the left of Gina).

Happy early birthday sweet friend!

So after we ate (catered by The Cotton Patch), there was a music performance and an inspirational speaker. It was a fun night! Love hanging out with these ladies!
Thanks for inviting me Dina!

Our Week in Review

So to sum up our week...it was full of highs and lows (thanks Kristy for your high/low inspiration).

One of the lows was Sophia being sick (strep).
But by Wednesday, she was almost back to her normal self (high). Her Paw-Paw and Nana brought by some dinner for us (sorry no pics) (but definitely a high).

So by Thursday, Russell and I were both back to work and Sophia was back to school (a high, I love routine).

Then the weekend came. And I hit a low. My phone fell off of the arm of the sofa and hit our hardwood floors (it's done that a million times so I guess I was due for some breakage eventually). The floor won..... The high is that I was due for an upgrade. So HELLO 4GS! And another HIGH Russell wasn't even mad. He was bewildered that I hadn't done it sooner.

Another high, a birthday party on Sunday.

It was for Sophia's friend Camden that she knew at Ms. Laura's, not to be confused with the current Kamden at Ms. Melanie's.

Sophia was super nervous and worried because she wouldn't know anyone (she really doesn't even know Camden).

But the high was that she had a BLAST at the party, even though she was scared. So bravo to Sophia for facing her fears (high!).

It was so fun watching Sophia play basketball.

And watching her go crazy on the bounce house slide.

By pizza time, she was pooped.

Here's the guest of honor, Camden (turning 5).

Did someone say pizza? Another high for Sophia. She loves pizza (and Tri, did you notice she's not touching it with her hands? I swear you two are so alike).

Another low.....After she finished her pizza, she remembered that she got a "rug" burn on the bounce house slide.

But how can you not believe those eyes?? They melt my heart.

But not anything a little cupcake can't cure.

Then more basketball. I was just happy that she played because she was so worried that she didn't know anyone. I tried to reassure her that I hardly know anyone either and that we just have to be brave and go. I tried to remind her that Camden probably felt the same way back in June when he came to her birthday party and didn't know anyone either.

After all that, she was pooped.

I said pooped!

Just for comparison, here's Sophia at Camden's 2 year old birthday party. She was 9 months or so. Still in her helmet. In fact, in these pics, she's got the beginnings of strep (days later we went to the doctor and she was diagnosed). This was Sophia's first case of it....soon to be followed by it every 3-4 months. Just like her daddy. I've never had it but Russell's had it multiple times since I've been teaching. Either I bring it home or he gets it from work.

At this point she was pulling up and cruising.

And there's Camden to help her out.

I guess I need to go back and narrate Sophia's first year that I didn't blog because her viewing audience missed so much. :) Just kidding. Another high...I won't subject you to that.
 Just kidding
