June 18, 2010...Sophia's Actual Birthday

I really didn't know what this day had in store for you. I knew that you were going to get colored pancakes, whether you liked it or not and that was about it. We were supposed to be going to your final swim class/graduation day but since you had strep and we didn't want to risk infection/you running yourself down, we missed it.
But we did start the day off with your choice of colored pancakes. Every time I ask you what your favorite color is, you say blue. So I'm believing you and made you some blue pancakes. Plus eggs.

But you kind of weren't into breakfast that morning, so we switched gear and played instead (out of character for you).

Later that day, your cousins from North Carolina came to visit with your grandparents from New York (and people wonder why I'm such an East coast girl).
You were really shy at first cause you were just waking up from your nap.

But quickly you got over you shyness and wanted to play.
Watching you with the girls makes me want a sibling for you but not a younger one, an older one (guess adoption is the only way for that to happen).

You adapted very quickly.
The girls treated you like their little doll.
And then we got out some hand-me downs- from them....the race track and the doll house.
For those of you that don't know, Sophia LOVES race cars. So a race car track is perfect...and it was free. And it's Russell's new favorite toy.
Of course she got reacquainted with her dollhouse that she played with at Christmas.
Maddie and Anna just adore you!
Then it was time to open Uncle Brice and Aunt Cynthia's gift, a dollhouse. Even though you just inherited a dollhouse, you still loved this one too.
In fact, you didn't want to share.

Then for dinner, hot dogs, chips and cupcakes. In attendance, Aunt Cynthia and Uncle Brice, Grandpa and Grandma K, Nana and Paw-Paw and of course us....

You didn't quite know what to do do about the candles. When we said to blow on them you did (cause your used to blowing on your other foods liked grilled cheese), but not quite enough, so I helped you.

"What am I supposed to do? I didn't get the memo on this one."

"Oh! It's about the chocolate icing!"
Then back flips after dinner....

All in all, a pretty great day for a kid who has strep, But an awesome day for a kid who has strep and it's their birthday!

What fun! :) Bless her heart being sick on her birthday--but you're right--it looks like she had fun, regardless!
