This Weekend....Family Time

Do any of you ever feel busy? Too busy? Overwhelmingly busy?
I do, all the time. I just try to do too much. Either that or I stink at time management.

But this weekend was different because even though I felt busy, I actually made time for family (besides Russell and Sophia).

Saturday

Saturday night, my sisters and I went to On the Border and had patio time. It was the perfect evening for patio time. It was so relaxing. I even had a chauffeur (Russell volunteered to drop me off and pick me up). So sweet!

I love when we have girl talk. An apparently all of our men are really interested in what we talk about because they quiz us when we get home.
Topics we discussed:

1. Hunger Games movie
2. Work
3. School (our kids)
4. Peeta (apparently the movie version of Peeta isn't what we pictured in our heads while reading the book, I haven't seen the movie yet, but Amy googled some pics of him and I agree)

That's about it....nothing too exciting but still fun nonetheless.

Sunday

The crazy thing is, I live 5 minutes from my parents, but hardly ever see them. I need to do better at dropping by but I'm usually so "on-the-go" trying to check things off my list that I run out of time. So on Sunday, I decided to actually add them to the list because they haven't seen Sophia in a while.

So before we did our errands, we dropped by to say hello, unannounced. They were outside working in the yard (they're always doing something too, must be where I get it). They were super happy to see us (I mean Sophia...who are we kidding??? That's who they really wanted to see).

And Sophia was super excited to see them, although a little shy. But when it was time to leave to run errands, Sophia didn't want to leave. In fact, she said "I want to stay here forever".

So we left her there and Russell and I ran our errands.

Here's what Sophia got to do while we were gone. My mom was kind enough to take pics of it (thanks mom!!!).

She got to help Paw-Paw plant his garden.

Of course that's not all that she did. Apparently, she colored, read books, had snacks....I can't even remember what all she did but it was a lot for being gone for an hour (apparently she has the go-go-go gene).
But I'm glad she got to spend some quality time with her Nana and Paw-Paw (and she got to see her Aunts on Sat.). She loves all of them!
And I do too!
What a great weekend!

Our Spring Break

Our Spring Break was full of.....
crafting for me of course. Check out my crafting blog to see some of the projects here.
It was also full of play. Sophia stayed home on Monday and we did a lot of that. It was beautiful outside so we took advantage of the wonderful weather. She couldn't wait to go back to Ms. Melanie's on Tues. She jumped up and down and said "I can't wait to see my friends".

We also did a lot of layering. Well, Sophia did. I'm not kidding. She literally put on 6 pairs of leggings/jeans, at least 4 dresses and 2-3 shirts. She just wouldn't stop. But it kept her busy while I cooked dinner.

It did make it a little hard to sit down (and to bend your legs).

But she found a way to make it work.

It was also full of Spiderman. Sophia's newest cartoon that she LOVES. And I'm talking the oldest ones from the 60's. Instead of Russell getting to watch the March Madness on St. Patty's day, we got to watch Spiderman.

Our Spring Break was also full of blooming. Our wisteria is in full bloom! Just ignore the flower beds. they'll look better next week. It smells so amazing, just gotta watch out for the bees.

It was also full of new recipes. I decided to try some Pinterest recipes this week. Some turned out better than others. I'd planned on cooking my first batch of corned beef and cabbage for St. Patrick's Day. I learned that apparently there is a big difference between corned beef brisket (which the recipe called for) and brisket (which we had leftover in the freezer). I called Russell while I was grocery shopping to fiund out if it was ok to use the brisket at home and he said yes. Ultimately though, I was the chef, so it's my fault. Lesson learned. Next year! I'm gonna make some spectacular corned beef and cabbage. :)

Good thing we had a back up dinner....frozen pizza. I think Sophia was pretty happy about that.

(Note her layers of jewelry.)

It was also full of beautiful sunsets.

Apparently I wasn't as adventurous as our neighbor. He climbed on his roof to capture it. I think it's still beautiful, lampposts and houses and all.

All in all, our Spring Break was very full! I was busy everyday doing things I loved, with people I love and mixed with a few naps. Perfection!

Sophia's First Movie....The Lorax

We had Open House this week, so it was a very busy week for me. But the good part is, I'm now on vacation because it's Spring Break!
We decided to kick off Spring Break by going to Sophia's FIRST movie ever. We went to see The Lorax with the Hardens (and family)!

Sophia was super excited about the snack bag that Apollo had prepared, especially the jelly beans (she is part Kaminski after all).

And she also loved the popcorn.

Getting a little restless before the movie.

And the previews start and she gets super excited. Both kiddos did super great! And Sophia loved her first movie experience! The Lorax was great! I really liked the story and all of the music.

Instagrams

My new favorite app is Instagram. It can make ANYTHING look monumental and important. I've been kinda slacking on taking photos so I'm showing latest 3 Instagrams. I found on Pinterest where you can turn them into a book. Totally doing that.

Here's us the day before my birthday, at Mi Cocina's for lunch.

Then us at McCalister's for lunch on Sunday.

And then here's Sophia in the car on the way home from school. She was telling me a story.
