Family Party

We finally got around to celebrating my birthday at Nana and Paw-Paw's house (they'd gone out of town the previous weekend). Of course I spent the day in comfy clothes (all my cute pj's dirty...wasn't motivated to do laundry this week).

Somehow I got demoted to the kids table....actually Sophia wanted me to sit by her. And because I know there will be a time when she'll be embarrassed to sit by me, I gladly accepted.

Who gave Russell a knife????

And my dad wrote a book in my card....so sweet!

It was a fun relaxing day! Thanks mom and dad (and all my family) for making it a special day.

The Breakfast of Champions

Russell made such a wonderful dinner on Saturday night, we didn't quite make it to the yummy dessert he had bought at Cheesecake Factory.
So I decided that on Sunday morning, why not have some of that yummy, chocolaty goodness for breakfast on Sunday.

I'm not sure which Sophia loved more, eating it or playing with it. And yes, she made a huge mess that I didn't have to clean up because it's my birthday week. :)

On Friday night, while I was at craft night, Russell and her visited the party store and had the house decorated for me when I got home. So sweet!

Dude! I'll be 38 tomorrow. That sounds so old to me. But with age, hopefully comes wisdom, self acceptance and just walking around without trying to suck in your stomach. I mean who cares if my stomach is flat. And pretty soon, I'll be past the child bearing age where people think you're pregnant and ask those, " Are you pregnant?". Trade offs.....but I'll tell ya one thing. I sure wouldn't trade a flat stomach for Sophia. I'll take some flab for such a wonderful little soulful girl!

Birthday Week Continues...Craft Night

Once again, I apologize for the direction of the photos. I changed it to the correct direction on my computer as I normally do. But when I upload the photos to blogger, the revert back to their natural direction. I have no idea how to change this. So just tilt your head I guess.

On Friday night, we had a craft night to help my friend Tricia make a desk to match the mirror she bought at Canton.
First things first, assess the situation.

We even had help from a super cutie Katie Belle!

Then it was down to business!

Here's a before!

And here's Katie Belle helping us! 24 months of super cutie patootie-ness!

We decided to paint the accents black.

Even sweet Donna got into the modge podge/painting/cutting mix with her hand (she recently had surgery on it). What a trooper!

Here's the desk top! We used 5 x 5 pieces of scrapbook paper with 1 inch x 12 inch pieces of hounds tooth print paper for the border. We put a layer of modge podge on top.

Here's Tricia super excited about her new desk/vanity!

And here's the mirror we were trying to match. She had bought the mirror at Canton. At the time she really didn't know if she wanted the whole desk to match.

But eventually, she decided it was a must to match the mirror!

And believe me! Five heads are better than 1 on figuring this mathematical junk out. And it turned out super cute! What a fun part of my birthday week!

Valentine's Day

For Valentine's Day, we just spent a quiet evening at home. We exchanged cards.

And a few gifts. I gave Russell these Milk Duds as a joke. When we were dating, and we'd go to the movies, we'd always get Milk Duds. And it seemed like every time , we'd end up dropping one and it would slide down and end up on his booty. So it basically looked like he had a turd on his booty leaving the theater.

Sophia loved the card Russell gave her. It opened up and turned into a castle she could play with.

The best part of last night was that I didn't have to cook anything. Russell had received a gift card to Olive Garden from a co-worker a while back and we finally put it to good use. Just FYI, Russell says to avoid Olive Garden on Valentine's Day. There was actually a line outside just to pick up to-go orders.

Unfortunately, the night did not end well for me. Sophia challenged me to a race and somehow I banged my foot into the bottom of the couch causing my pinkie toe and the toe next to it to spread apart at an uncomfortable angle. I'm not sure if it's broken but I went to the dr anyways today, just to be sure. I had to go to a different site for x-rays so it might be a day or so before they know. Apparently, even though there's nothing they can do for a broken toe, there is a type of break that can happen on the pinkie toe that can cause the blood to stop flowing to that toe, so it's a good idea to get an x-ray to be on the safe side.

So I spent the rest of the evening with my foot elevated and iced.

Not the kind of start to my birthday week that I was hoping for......

A Valentine's Day Treat

I need to preface this post by saying, I have no idea why these pics are in the wrong direction. In my pictures folder they are going in the right direction but when they uploaded they switched back to their original direction. So, I apologize....
Now on to the post. Sunday afternoon, after a trip to the mall, we swung by Nana and Paw-Paw's house because they had a special treat for Sophia for Valentine's Day.

Inside the bag were some sweet treats and toys. One of the toys was a yo-yo that lights up.

Sophia was very excited about all of her presents but was really intrigued by the yo-yo.

Unfortunately, she handed the yo-yo to me. It flew off of my finger and smashed all to pieces. :( Guess I'll be going to Target for a new one.

A Return to Leapin' Lizards

Saturday afternoon, we went to Leapin' Lizards for a birthday party (for Brody, Sophia's friend from school). Unfortunately, we had to wake her up from her nap in order to make it to the party on time and she had a hard time waking up. So at first, she didn't want to participate. She only would jump if Russell went with her.
And she'd only climb if Russell went with her.

Russell was a really good sport and really worked up a sweat.

Sophia really liked playing with one of her friends little sister.

Sophia had a good time!
