New Soccer Season, New League, New Team!

We began Sophia's new soccer season on my birthday (Feb 20th) with a soccer practice and her first game was this past Sat.
And she was excited.
We started a new league due to some coaching/league issues with BESA  (we'd only really signed with BESA because we thought it would be easier on the grandparents trying to see Jack and Sophia's games at the same time/day...at least it would be the same field, but he didn't end up playing soccer). And also because we wanted her to play with/against her classmates at River Trails. So now we're with HUSA (Hurst United). Now we're on the Yellowjackets.

The first game went pretty smoothly.

Her coach is actually the college coach for Texas Weslyan's soccer team (not sure if for male or female). But he's volunteering because her team didn't have a coach and like hell if Russell was volunteering again with his work schedule. And I could do it ( I did play k-12, plus a little intramural post high school), but after teaching all day, the last thing I want to do is coach soccer.

Warming up!

Getting a little advice from Coach.

And she's in!

And on it! She was a little slow to get in there (they'd only had one practice), but we saw a spark in her at one point.

Halftime!

Second half!

Throw in! Great form!

3/4 break time...

Kick off!

She made us very proud. And like I told her "I love to watch you play"!
As a parent, that's all you need to say.
And we saw a ton of her classmates on other teams. Looking forward to playing them.

Valentine's Day

Here are a few pics I took at Sophia's Valentine's Day party at school. Because 5th grade always wants to switch with us for conference times on party days, I'm always able to pop in on them and celebrate with Sophia. One of the perks of being at her school!

They had tons of sugar!

They did some crafts.

Then, they got to open up their Valentine's Cards.

The kids made a big Valentine Card for Mrs. Hoss.

Happy Valentine's Day! Thankfully it fell on a Friday. Love it when that happens (that and Halloween). You don't have to deal with the after effects of the sugar (as a teacher).

Train Time With the Hardens

Last weekend we finally had our annual train time with the Hardens. Better late than never! Russell finally got the train running last weekend. The village has been set up since Christmas but the actual train has not been running.

We've been doing this since 2010...see the below comparison pic. They've changed so much.

After train time, Atticus and Sophia wanted to play in her very messy room.

Then more train time!

It's funny. Sophia has not wanted to play with the train at all until Atticus came over.

Then snack time and more play with Legos.

They played so well together. No hurt feelings or fighting over toys. And I got to catch up with my good friend Tricia! They will have to come over again before we take it down. And by we, I mean Russell.
