Good Times!

Sunday started off with Sophia playing resteraunt. It was so funny. She has this litttle book that she uses as our menu. She then decided to open up her resteraunt to her entire stuffed animal population. These 4 lucky guests got the only table there.
Then Uncle Brice and Aunt Cynthia came over to cook out on the grill, but mostly to play with Sophia.

They brought her this cool Cars toy that shoots the car across the room.

Then it was time to work her puzzle.

Then, we watched the Aggie game of course.

Gig 'Em!

We even managed to get Sophia to out her jersey on for a few seconds.

After we finished eating, Sophia couldn't wait to bust out her doctor set and take everyone's blood pressure. Then, she wanted us to check her out.

Poor bunny! Sophia was being silly and threw him over her shoulder. He landed in her plate that had ketchup on it. We got a bleeder! Good thing we have a doctor set!

She of course thought it was hilarious!

Good times, good times!

A Long Overdue Playdate

On Saturday, we were able to meet up with Tricia and Atticus to play at the Splash Pad. It was long overdue. Tricia and I have seen each other but Sophia and Atticus have not. It's just been too hot for outdoor playdates. It was heavenly weather. It was in the 80's. Slight breeze. What a beautiful day. And lucky us, we had the Splash Pad to ourselves and didn't have to share.

For some reason, these 2 are all about the snacks. Instead of immediately playing, they want to immediately eat. Must be because we're meeting up at 10 which would normally be Sophia's snack time??

But with a little snack in their bellies, they were able to manage a little energy to chase each other.

Unfortunately, this playdate ended early dueuse bieng chased by bees. More and more bees kept showing up (maybe they were after our snacks). And Sophia kept begging to leave. Bugs freak her out. I must say, I am not a bug lover myself. I know they are a necessary part of our ecosystem, but I would prefer to not ever see them.

After that, since our playdate ended earlier than expected, we headed over to Nana and Paw-Paw's to swim.

But Sophia wanted to snack first. I'm seeing a pattern here.

Sophia helped Nana sweep the acorns off of the patio. We kept stepping on them and it hurt.

Then, Sophia heard the pool calling her name.

And jumped right in, feet first.

We missed our window for a nap but we had such a great time seeing so many people we love, that it didn't matter. What a fun day!

Splash Day! I mean Splash Hour!

These pics are from last Sunday. Just now getting to blog about them. We promised Sophia we'd have our own Splash Day like they do at school. So after dinner, we broke out the swim suit, sprinklers, bubbles and Popsicles.

Sophia thoroughly enjoyed her Popsicle.

And of course, what would sprinkler time be without Russell getting in on the action?

I guess we can't really call it a Splash Day since we only stayed outside about an hour, but it was HOT!

On Sunday, we made our first trip to Costco. We have a Sam's membership through Russell's work. So we've been to warehouse shopping venues. But this was crazy!!!!  Our main focus was a play scape for Sophia, which we had a friend find theirs at Costco. But once there, we didn't find what we were looking for. But we did fin 10,000 other people shopping! And we found a great scanner/printer!

Sophia was pretty excited! But we didn't end up buying it. We wanted to compare prices at home.

Bacon....A Love/Hate Relationship

How many of you love bacon but hate cooking it because it's so messy????
Well, my sister in law taught me a new way to cook it to avoid the mess and I love it!

Preheat the oven to 400.
Line a cookie sheet with foil.
Lay the bacon on the foil lined cookie sheet.

Cook for 10-15 minutes. Ours took slightly longer because I like mine crispier and it usually takes longer to cook in our oven anyways. You don't even have to flip it!!!!

GENIUS!!!!

A Busy Saturday

Saturday turned out to be a very busy day. Probably because we slept in until 9:20. Yep, Sophia went to bed later than usual the night before and slept until 9:20. And it was Russell's turn to get up with her, so I slept until 9:45. Which is a great feeling, but then I realized that if I was going to get our bathrooms and bedrooms cleaned before we left to go to a birthday party later that afternoon, I was going to have to move a little bit faster. The bathrooms and bedrooms did get cleaned. But then I had to hurry up and shower, get ready, get the present ready, etc. We were rushing around all morning. So even though it felt great at the time to sleep in, it didn't feel so great having to rush around.

But we finally made it out the door and to the party. Cale is Sophia's friend from PK and he turned 4. We were all very thankful it was an indoor party at Sunbelt gymnastics. They do tumbling activities while we watch from a room above the gym. Then they come upstairs to join us and have cake.

There's Cale!

Now the coolest part of this party, for me, was watching the person who worked there cut the cake. Look! She sticks a row of forks in.

Cuts it down the side.

Then cuts across and uses the fork to help lift the piece of cake on to the plate.

Genius!!!!

Batter Up!!!!

Friday night, my parents took the cousins to a Ranger game. Sophia said she had fun, even though it was super hot. My mom thankfully (I really appreciate it), took a few pics to document the night.

Her favorite part of the night....ice cream sandwich, a.k.a. The Big Kahuna.

How cute are they holding hands???!!!

While they were at the game, we were out celebrating our 13th wedding anniversary. We went to BJ's Brewhouse. Yummy food! And even better company!
