Super Sophia

At Sophia's school, each kinder teacher picks a boy and girl from their class to be the Super Citizen for each Six Weeks. A couple of week ago, Sophia was named the girl Super Citizen for her class. Luckily for me, my music teacher volunteered to take my class so that I could attend the special ceremony they have.

Here they are coming in.

They really make a big deal out of it and have music playing.

The teachers dance.

Here's our assistant principal and principal.

Mrs. Wall, one of our kinder teachers gave out the awards.

Here's Sophia going up front when they called her name.

On a side note, notice the necklace she's wearing? She made that during one of our crafty times. I had to do the fasteners but strung it up herself and chose all the beads.

Her class, Mrs. Hoss' class got the attendance award for kinder. with the best attendance for the 1st six weeks.

Eventually, Sophia's picture, along with all the other super citizens, will go on this bulletin board.

I couldn't have been prouder of our little super citizen. A shout out of thanks goes out to all of those who've helped shape her behavior and personality (especially Ms. Melanie....we know she had a huge part in this).

Poppy's Birthday

I'm so behind on EVERYTHING!
Blog posts, crafting, sewing....you name it, I'm behind. So sorry for the delay in your daily/weekly doses of all things Sophia.

Sophia has recently begun calling my dad Poppy instead of Paw-Paw. She loves calling everyone their name + and y sound at the end. Jacky, Willy, Koby (already done for her). And now Poppy. The funny thing is that if you ask her what she prefers to be called, she always says Sophia. Not Sophie. Ha!

Last Sunday, we celebrated my dad's birthday.

One o Sophia's many faces.....

We had a great time celebrating my dad. He got a real kick out of his cards. Instead of aiming to make him tear up and cry, we now aim to make him laugh the most. Think Aunt Amy won this year!

Although, our singing card was a big hit.

Especially with Sophia and Jack!

My mom outdid herself with lunch. It was a new main dish recipe (which I need mom). And Nothing Bundt Cakes for dessert. YUMMO!

Happy birthday dad! You are the greatest! Thanks for being you and keeping us all in stitches with your humor and joy. We love you!

Another Soccer Weekend

It seems like our life is made up soccer, karate, school, homework and my sewing.
Life has been busy but also redundant. I'm ready for a break. Thank goodness we have a 3 day weekend coming up.
But this past Saturday, we had more soccer. Here are a few pics of it.

I was SUPER proud of Sophia for getting up from this fall as if nothing had happened. No tears, no crying. She just kept on going.

So proud of her!

So proud of this girl!!!!!

Soccer Weekend

This past weekend we had 2 soccer games...one on Sat. at 9 am (ouch! It hurt making it to that one) and one on Sun at 4:30.

For some reason, our little alarm clock, Sophia, slept until after 8 and Russell just happened to wake up in time to see that we needed to jump out of bed and haul booty to make it to the game.

Sophia is making more and more attempts at getting in there.

It rained like cats and dogs about an hour after her game ended.
We had been hoping maybe her Sunday game would get canceled, but no such luck.

It was a beautiful day but not a beautiful game. The other teams coach was really mean and yelled ALOT. So one of our parent's told him to lay off they're kids. It escalated from there. Just yelling. But still very awkward and uncomfortable. Definitely not a good example for the kids.

But like I said, it was a beautiful day! And after the game, it was nice to go home to a crock pot full of chicken enchilada soup and have the windows open. It felt like Fall!
