Princess Hair

One thing you mamas out there with little boys "miss out on" is styling your little girls hair. When I say "miss out on", for me, that means, consider yourself lucky you don't have to worry about it.

For those of you that know me, you know that I struggle with styling Sophia's hair. I've been wanting to learn how to French braid, so the other day when I arrived to pick up Sophia, Ms. Melanie was in the process of French braiding her hair so I watched. It looked easy enough.

So when Sophia asked for Princess hair (which is code for something fancy and pretty), I decided to attempt my first French braid. Let's just say it was not my best work. It was an epic failure.

It kinda looked okay from far away.

It looks like I started out right.....

But I ended up with a hot mess.

Poor Sophia said, "Mom! I have crazy hair!". So I took out the braids and just went with a traditional braid.
Yep, I need to do some research on-line. Surely they have tutorials somewhere.

You've got the idea!! Maybe sections were too big? I was really planning to get a video (though not of a French braid) when my mom was in town but somehow we ran out of time for EVERYTHING. Good start though... You have the concept, now you just have to train your hands.

Oh crap! I didn't know I was going to have to learn how to french braid! I'm glad you are a couple of years ahead of me, so I know what's coming.

Right now we are just trying to tame Katie's afro!

I still think Sophia looks totally adorable!

Hey, I think you did great for your first try! Soon you'll be adding it to your list of talents.

Seriously! How did I end up with three girls! I know NOTHING about hair styles. I literally wore my hair in a bun almost every day of high school because I didn't want to fix my hair. Now, every day I have to fix not just my hair but THREE little girls' hair too! Jeesh! Some day I might try to french braid but for now my kids get pig tails, pony tails, or a head band.
