Strep Strikes Again

I should have known something was wrong when Sophia wanted to take a nap halfway through the Ranger game.

And I really should have known something was wrong with her when Russell suggested we go to "The Big Cookie Restaurant", a.k.a. BJ's after the game, and Sophia wanted to go home and rest. She kept saying she was cold.

In the middle of the night, she woke up with a fever and we went to Care Now on Saturday. Sure enough, it was strep.

Typically, when she gets strep, after the first 2 doses of antibiotics, she usually perks right up and the fever goes away.

But not this time. She woke up at 2:30 am and was burning up. I gave her more Motrin and it finally kicked in around 4. Until that point, she and I went into the living room and watched TV. I set up a pallet on the floor for us and eventually she went to sleep. I however did not. I just don't do well sleeping on the floor, especially with a sick kid.

So since she wasn't feeling 100%, we decided to not expose my family to her strep and stayed home. Good thing we didn't go because her fever returned around 11 am. We just can't kick that fever. Care Now said to alternate between Motrin and Tylenol every 4 hours, so we're going to try that now. Wish us luck ....cause mama needs a good nights sleep.

On a side note: I mentioned in a previous post how much she's becoming a daddy's girl but in this case where she's sick, she still calls for me. Not sure if that's a good or bad thing. But it is good to feel needed. I just hope she feels better soon. Fevers scare me.
