The First Night of Painting Class

Tonight was Sophia's first night of her painting class. She's taking it at the Hurst Rec. Center. Luckily for her, she's taking it with her best guy Atticus, so at least she has a familiar face other than mine.
Tonight they were decorating birdhouses. They got to pick the birdhouse they wanted to paint (I had to pick for Sophia) and the color they wanted to paint it. Sophia chose to start with purple (the lady asked her to pick 1 of 5 colors and Sophia couldn't decide so the lady gave her a choice of purple or yellow). But one color was not enough for this little painter. By the end of it, I think she used every color they had.

I think Atticus is super excited about his birdhouse!

Atticus chose to start with blue.

As you can see, Sophia chose to eat some of her purple paint. Such a van Gogh move!
Or maybe she's a Salvador Dali?

They were pretty serious to start out with.

Where did she go?
Oh, she was checking out everyone elses project or maybe she's looking for more colors.
"Ohhh, why am I using this small, paintbrush when I can use my fingers which are bigger (and messier)?"
Here she is showing Miss Mary, the teacher how to finger paint.
Miss Mary was a good sport and let Sophia touch her nose.

Then they started to play musical chairs, Atticus and Sophia style, which basically means pushing the chairs around.

Their little masterpieces....

By Atticus
They both did a great job and had a lot of fun. Plus it was cheap!
Mental Note: Next time, make sure we leave before the music class (which is in the same room) starts. Miss Mary teaches the music class too and she started passing out sticks. Sophia was soooo mad that she couldn't play with the sticks.
On a side note: Sophia's potty training is going great. Her daycare provider that was trying to persuade us to wait until she starts with Ms. Melanie (probably because she doesn't want to have to bother with it), said she has the best bladder control she's ever seen. She said she held it for 4 hours today and only had 1 accident at naptime. I told my mom, and she said I had excellent bladder control too but I potty trained younger than Sophia. So the apple doesn't fall far from the tree. Yea!!!!!!

Tricia got so dressed up for art class! So lovely! Also lovely... Sophia's painting. Wish I had done it with Emily - I have heard good things about it. Love watching those two together and Atticus' excited face is wicked. ;D
Potty training, yahoo and hooray! But, why did she have to hold it for four hours?
